Job Description

This occupation includes all positions that primarily require a practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of range conservation and related resource management fields. Range technicians provide practical technical support in range research efforts; in the marketing of the range resource; and in the scientific management, protection, and development of grasslands and other range resources.

Technical and Medical Support Positions encompass jobs that require specialized, practical knowledge and the ability to perform skilled tasked. However, these skills can often be learned on the job or through training when you are hired. In some cases, certifications are required to qualify. Additional education such as an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree will increase starting grade and lead to promotion. Typically promotions are given 1 grade at a time up to a maximum of GS-9.
