U.S. Coast Guard: Basic Pay Charts for 2016

All members of the United States Coast Guard are paid a monthly basic pay rate determined by their paygrade/Coast Guard rank. Please note that the 2016 Military Basic Pay Charts on this page do not include the various Coast Guard allowances and bonuses that suppliment most servicemembers' incomes. For a more detailed military pay estimate, use our Coast Guard pay calculator.

The Coast Guard's primary responsibility is to provide security and law enforcement for our nation's coastal waters. The Coast Guard is part of the Department of Homeland Security, except when supplementing Navy and Marine forces, as they have in nearly every major conflict since WWI. As of 2016, there are roughly 40,000 Sailors on Active Duty, 8,000 in the Coast Guard Reserve, and 30,000 in the Coast Guard Auxiliary (an unpaid force of uniformed volunteers). The major communities for the Coast Guard include Law Enforcement, Aviation, Engineering, Intelligence, and Oceanography.
