The Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force is the highest ranked enlisted member in pay-grade and responsibility. It is equivalent to the rank of Sergeant Major of the Army/Marines in the Army/Marines, and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy/Coast Guard. The current CMSAF is Chief Master Sergeant James A. The CMSAF is responsible for the morale, training, readiness, and quality of life for all the enlisted personnel in the Air Force. He/she works directly as an advisor for the Air Force Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force.
